Charlotte Devaux is an experienced international costume designer and stylist for theatre, television and dance. She has designed a wide range of costumes in America, New Zealand, Australia, and the UK.
Her experience crosses a spectrum of traditional theatre as well as avant-garde productions, including an eighteenth century promenade through the Botanical Gardens of Sydney Australia and Christchurch, New Zealand. She also holds design credit in the UK, working with actors and artists from London, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania.
While extensively designing theatre in New Zealand, Charlotte expanded her career to become the Costume Designer and Stylist for Television New Zealand’s Nationwide iconic children’s programming. Other professional design credits in New Zealand include work featured at The Court Theatre, The Christchurch Repertory Theatre, and The Christchurch Drama Center.
Charlotte has designed over thirty productions at the Tony Award Winning Old Globe Theatre, San Diego, California. Other regional theatre credit highlights include The La Jolla Playhouse, TheatreWorks, Mo’olelo Performing Arts, San Diego Dance Theatre,
and A Cuban Dance Musical at The Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts, Miami.
Currently, she holds the position of Resident Associate Costume Designer at The Old Globe Theatre, collaborating with world class artists, designers, and directors on productions from Broadway bound musicals, the classics, to Shakespeare. Charlotte has been awarded a prestigious TCG Continuing Education Grant, undertaking costume research and study in London and Bath, UK.
Working and studying fashion design, costume and art in America, New Zealand and the UK, has richly influenced her design aesthetic. Her collective experience has taken her around the world creating a diverse designer with a passion for costume.
